CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts)

So this CIVA group is pretty cool. Basically, as their name suggests, they are a group of Christian visual artists who want to use their talents to affect the wider culture around them. Also, they make it a goal of theirs to worship God through their artwork and bring glory to Him. Gotta say, that is pretty cool!

As far as membership in CIVA goes, it costs $30 for a student membership and goes up to $75 for a basic membership, although they offer a "Starving Artist" membership for $45. I may have to consider this! Members get discounts in the organizations tours and exhibits, a subscription to CIVA's SEEN Journal, inclusion in the CIVA sourcebook, and other benefits (apparently they are even working on giving each member a web page on their site!)- definitely a way to get your name out there in the Christian art community.

As a Christian in the art world, I can say that it sometimes seems difficult to find a place that allows me to stick to my beliefs while putting my work out there for others to see. CIVA seems to offer this in their organization, so I really encourage you to check them out and support them!
